Aseel arrived from Iraq in 2015 with her family seeking asylum in Australia. She was referred by RedCross soon after to access FOR’s programs. Aseel came back to FOR to do her work placement to complete Diploma in Community Services at Box Hill TAFE in July 2021. She continued to volunteer at FOR after she completed her work placement. We are very pleased to hire her as the Community Development Officer and she does an amazing job supporting new arrivals and people seeking asylum. Prior to leaving Iraq she worked as a primary school teacher for 11 years in Iraq. She has completed her Bachelors in Geography and has a Diploma in Arabic from Iraq.
