Friends of Refugees takes pride in helping people seeking asylum, many who have fled their homes because of unimaginable hardships and have often been forced to endure refugee camps for years. We provide rapid, grassroots assistance that gives people the chance to pick up the pieces and start all over again.
For those who come to us in severe and/or urgent need, we offer a range of Community Support Programs designed to solve immediate problems such as food insecurity, material aid, education support and mentorship programs.
We set up our clients for long-term success through our Employment and Training services, as well as through our Social Entreprises, therefore equipping and empowering them to settle successfully in Australia.
Finally, on a broader scale we are involved in Advocacy and supporting social change at a local level. Our aim is to spread awareness of the unique problems faced by refugees, to promote positive relationships and tolerance in Melbourne’s South East, and to show our active solidarity with refugees, people seeking asylum, and the organisations that aid them.
We are always looking for ways to expand our program base to better cater for our clients. If you see a need and can think of an effective way to address it, please get in touch with us at volunteer@for.org.au
