Bernadette Keating is a member of the Victorian Presentation Sisters. Now retired after a life as teacher, principal, pastoral associate, and seminary staff member, Bernadette has been using her Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary teaching background to assist and accompany Friends of Refugees with English over the last eight years. In conversation with our small groups, we work out what the class is interested to learn, so last year the focus was conversational language and emergency situations. This year we have started working towards language necessary for applying for Citizenship. It is delightful to see the interest and friendship among the class members and the support with each other’s children in the nearby play area.
