Service to the community
Since July 2013, Helen Sheikhan has volunteered to cook for UNOH’s Welcome Meal every week in Dandenong catering for 30-50 people. She is a very talented cook with a passion for her own Persian culture and cuisine. Helen is also a volunteer at a playgroup facilitated by UNOH workers at Harrisfield Primary School, Welcome Home picnics, Dandenong Minister’s Fellowship and at Friends of Refugees. Despite facing an uncertain future for her family in Australia, Helen, has actively engaged with the Australian community. She has a warm heart that reaches out to others.
