MOHAMMAD ALI BAQIRI

Youth Achievement

Mohammad Ali Baqiri did not have a normal childhood. While other children were going to school and playing, he spent three years in a detention centre in Nauru. Mohammad now advocates for the freedom of other people seeking asylum. He spent 2015 as a Youth Ambassador with the ChillOut organisation and is currently pursuing a double degree in Law and Business at Victoria University. He has spoken at schools, rallies, forums and on platforms such as ABC television’s Q&A and at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre’s Youth Action Project.
An active and dedicated young member of Australia, Mohammad dedicates hours of his time working for more humane and just policies in Australia.
